The Brain Bean Coffee 3-Pack: stock up and save over 20%

Three 16 oz bags (48 oz total) of Brain Bean Coffee for just $20.00 per bag, a savings of $15.84 compared with buying three bags individually. It's the easy way to keep your daily ritual going without running out.

Coffee, evolved. Brain Bean™ Coffee is USDA Organic, single-estate, specialty-grade coffee that we roast ourselves, in small batches, in our own USDA Organic–certified roasting plant. Every roast is quality checked to meet our Smart Roasting™ standard, so every bag delivers the highest levels of polyphenols, a low-acid, full-bodied cup and 447 mg of chlorogenic acid in every serving, verified by an independent lab. Built for your MOOD · MIND · MEMORY.

Plenty of coffees promise to be "clean" or "healthy." Brain Bean Coffee proves it, from the farm to the roaster to your cup, and we put a number on what matters most.

The Brain Bean difference

  • We roast it ourselves: Many coffee brands outsource their roasting to third-party roasters. We don't. Every bean is roasted in our own cGMP, USDA Organic–certified facility at the foot of the Sierra Nevada, near Lake Tahoe, so we control every step.
  • Every single roast is quality checked: Each small batch is checked against our Smart Roasting™ standard before it's packed, so the bag you open tastes, and performs, exactly the way it should.
  • We measure the polyphenols, and we tell you the number: Anyone can say "high in antioxidants." Brain Bean Coffee delivers 447 mg of chlorogenic acid (CGA) per serving, 2 to 6 times more than conventional coffees.
  • Low acid, full body: Most "healthy" coffees ask you to choose between gentle and flavorful. Smart Roasting™ delivers both: a smooth, low-acid cup with a rich, full-bodied, bold flavor.
  • Tested for purity: Every lot is sent to an independent third-party laboratory. Our 2026–27 lot was tested for 76 contaminants, including 13 mycotoxins, mold and yeast, heavy metals, glyphosate, acrylamide and more than 50 residual solvents.
  • Physician developed: Created by Dr. Michael Nelson, founder of Brain Bean, to support your brain as well as your taste buds.

From a single volcanic estate

Our beans come from a single organic estate nestled more than 4,000 feet above sea level at the base of a volcanic range in the lush jungles of Central America. There, heirloom Arabica coffee grows slowly in exceptionally nutrient-rich soil. This high-altitude, volcanic terroir produces a coffee with remarkable smoothness, naturally low acidity and a pure, robust flavor that stands apart from anything you've tried.

  • Heirloom Arabica: Non-GMO beans grown from original strains of Coffea arabica cultivated for generations, for a higher-quality, more distinctive flavor.
  • Specialty grade: Grown and processed with meticulous attention to detail, ranking in the top 5% of specialty-grade coffees worldwide.
  • Organic and Fair Trade: Grown with sustainable, environmentally friendly practices that protect the soil, the workers and the surrounding communities.

Smart Roasting™: roasted by us, checked every time

Roasting is where most of coffee's goodness is won or lost. Chlorogenic acids are coffee's signature polyphenols, but research shows they are sensitive to heat: the longer and darker coffee is roasted, the more of them are lost. Roast too lightly, and you get a sour, acidic cup. Roast too darkly, and the polyphenols burn away.

After years of research and refinement, Dr. Michael Nelson developed Smart Roasting™, a proprietary roasting method designed to hit the sweet spot: maximum polyphenol retention, low acidity and a clean, rich, full-bodied flavor.

  • In-house, not outsourced: We roast every batch ourselves in our own cGMP, USDA Organic–certified plant, just 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe.
  • Small batches: Roasting in small batches gives us precise control over every roast curve.
  • Quality checked, every roast: Every single roast is checked to make sure it meets our Smart Roasting™ standard before it's packed, so you get the highest levels of polyphenols and the same low-acid, full-bodied cup in every bag.

The Smart Roasting™ difference, by the numbers

Published research on commercial roasted coffee shows it generally contains between 2 and 7 mg of chlorogenic acid per gram, and the darker the roast, the lower it goes. Brain Bean Coffee's Smart Roasting™ tested at about 30 mg per gram. Here's how that looks per 15 g/cup:

Coffee CGA per 15 g/cup
Typical dark roast About 65 mg
Typical medium roast About 70–110 mg
Typical light roast About 120 mg
Brain Bean™ Coffee, Smart Roasted™ 447 mg (lab verified, 2026–27 lot)

That's roughly 4 times the CGA of a typical light roast, and up to 6 times or more than typical medium and dark roasts. Even light roasts, which usually keep the most CGA, can't match it, and Brain Bean still delivers a smooth, low-acid, full-bodied medium roast instead of a sour, acidic light roast.

The result is what many describe as the cleanest, healthiest, best-tasting coffee on the planet.

Chlorogenic acid: coffee's brain-loving polyphenol

Coffee is one of the largest sources of antioxidant polyphenols in the modern diet, and chlorogenic acid is the most important of them. Our 2026–27 lot delivers 447 mg of CGA per serving, 2 to 6 times more than conventional coffees.

A growing body of clinical research shows that chlorogenic acids help support attention, executive function and psychomotor speed, including in older adults experiencing everyday memory changes.

What the clinical trials show

  • Faster thinking and sharper attention: In a 16-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial published in Nutrients, healthy adults who took chlorogenic acids showed significant improvements in motor speed, psychomotor speed, executive function and shifting attention compared with placebo.
  • Support for the aging brain: In a randomized controlled trial published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, older adults with mild cognitive impairment made significantly fewer errors on a test of attention and executive function while taking chlorogenic acids compared with placebo.
  • Memory, attention and executive function in older adults: In a 6-month pilot study of older adults with subjective memory complaints, daily chlorogenic acids were followed by significant improvements in working memory, verbal and composite memory, shifting attention, motor function, executive function and cognitive flexibility.
  • Benefits in as little as two weeks: A 2022 randomized, double-blind crossover trial in adults aged 50 to 65, published in Brain Sciences, found that chlorogenic acids significantly improved psychomotor speed and motor speed after just two weeks of daily intake.

Consistency is the key

The research is clear on one point: daily, sustained intake is what delivers results. Studies of CGA taken every day for two weeks to six months showed measurable cognitive benefits, while single, one-time doses had little lasting effect. That's why making a high-CGA coffee your daily ritual matters, and why every cup of Brain Bean Coffee is built to deliver.

Signs of a healthier brain in the blood

In the 16-week Nutrients trial, people taking chlorogenic acids also showed increased blood levels of apolipoprotein A1 and transthyretin, two protective transport proteins that researchers consider potential markers of brain health, with lower levels linked to early-stage cognitive decline.

How CGA supports the brain

  • Antioxidant protection: CGA helps neutralize free radicals and reduce oxidative stress in delicate brain cells.
  • Healthy blood flow: Chlorogenic acid supports healthy blood vessels and helps maintain healthy blood pressure levels already within the normal range, supporting steady blood flow to the brain.
  • Healthy metabolism: By supporting balanced blood sugar and insulin sensitivity, CGA helps keep the brain's energy supply steady.

The CGA advantage: 2 to 6 times more than typical coffee

Not all coffee is created equal. Research measuring more than 100 coffees from coffee shops across Europe found that a typical serving delivers only a fraction of the chlorogenic acids found in Brain Bean Coffee, and that darker, hotter roasting destroys these valuable polyphenols. At 447 mg of chlorogenic acids per serving, verified by an independent lab, Brain Bean Coffee delivers 2 to 6 times more CGA than typical coffees.

Why does that matter? Beyond the brain, chlorogenic acid is one of the most studied compounds in coffee for metabolic health, helping support healthy fat metabolism, balanced blood sugar and overall metabolic wellness.

Healthy blood sugar balance

  • Slows carbohydrate absorption: CGA helps slow how quickly carbohydrates from your meals are absorbed, supporting a gentler, steadier rise in blood sugar.
  • Supports the liver's glucose balance: CGA helps regulate glucose-6-phosphatase, a liver enzyme that releases stored sugar into the bloodstream, supporting healthy fasting blood sugar levels already within the normal range.
  • Human research: A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that chlorogenic acid in coffee influenced glucose absorption and gut hormone responses after a meal.

Coffee and long-term blood sugar health

Some of the strongest research on coffee involves long-term blood sugar health. A 2021 review in Nutrients, pooling large prospective studies from around the world, laid out the case that the link between coffee and lower type 2 diabetes risk is likely causal:

  • About 30% lower risk: Coffee drinkers with the highest intake had roughly 30% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than non-drinkers.
  • The more coffee, the lower the risk: Risk declined steadily with each additional daily cup, a clear dose-response pattern that strengthens the case for a real effect.
  • Consistent worldwide: The findings were strikingly similar across Europe, the USA and Asia, in men and women, and in lean and overweight, younger and older people.
  • It's not the caffeine: Decaffeinated coffee showed nearly the same protective association as regular coffee, pointing to coffee's polyphenols, including chlorogenic acid, rather than caffeine as key drivers.
  • How it works: Chlorogenic acid and its metabolite caffeic acid strongly activate Nrf2, the body's master switch for antioxidant and cell-defense enzymes. Over time, this helps preserve the healthy function of the liver and the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas, the two organs most responsible for keeping blood sugar balanced.
  • A long game: The benefits reflect habitual, long-term coffee drinking rather than the effects of a single cup, another reason to make a high-CGA coffee your daily ritual.

Fat metabolism and weight management

  • Less belly fat with high-CGA coffee: In a 12-week randomized, double-blind controlled trial of 150 overweight adults, published in Nutrients, people who drank coffee rich in chlorogenic acids had significantly greater reductions in visceral (deep belly) fat, total abdominal fat, BMI and waist circumference than people who drank a low-CGA coffee. Brain Bean Coffee delivers even more CGA per serving than the high-CGA coffee used in that study.
  • Supported by a meta-analysis: A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials found that chlorogenic acid from green coffee significantly reduced body weight.
  • How it works: CGA influences how the body processes and stores fats, supporting healthy lipid metabolism and fat utilization.

Whole-body metabolic health

A 2025 review in Nutrients summarized how chlorogenic acid supports metabolic health: as a powerful polyphenol antioxidant, CGA reduces oxidative stress, supports healthy insulin sensitivity, helps maintain healthy lipid balance and supports overall energy balance. The researchers also noted that CGA is considered safe, even at high intakes.

With Brain Bean Coffee, your daily cup becomes one of the richest dietary sources of chlorogenic acid you can find, supporting your brain, your metabolism and your MOOD · MIND · MEMORY.

Coffee and long-term brain health

Research on coffee drinkers continues to point in the same direction. In the long-running CAIDE study, which followed people from midlife for an average of 21 years, coffee drinkers had a lower risk of dementia later in life than people who drank little or no coffee, with the lowest risk, 65% lower, among moderate daily coffee drinkers. Choosing a clean, polyphenol-rich coffee is one of the simplest daily habits you can build for your brain.

Lab verified: our 2026–27 lot

We don't ask you to take our word for it. Our current 2026–27 lot of Brain Bean Coffee (Lot BB16-2026) was sent to an independent third-party food testing laboratory for a full panel of polyphenol and purity testing. Here's what they found, per 15 g/cup.

Test Result
Total chlorogenic acids (CGA) 447 mg per serving, including 177 mg of 5-caffeoylquinic acid, coffee's primary chlorogenic acid
Mycotoxins (13 tested, including aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, fumonisins, DON, T-2/HT-2 and zearalenone) None detected
Mold and yeast Below detection (<10 CFU/g)
Glyphosate and AMPA None detected
Mercury and arsenic None detected
Lead and cadmium Trace levels only (lead 5.7 ppb, cadmium 13.8 ppb), a small fraction of California Proposition 65 daily safe-harbor levels
Acrylamide 314 mcg/kg, below the European Union benchmark of 400 mcg/kg for roasted coffee
Residual solvents (56 tested) All below limits: pass

Trace minerals such as lead and cadmium occur naturally in soil, so they're found at low levels in virtually all plant foods, including coffee. Our results are a small fraction of the most protective safety limits. Acrylamide forms naturally whenever coffee is roasted, and our Smart Roasting™ process keeps it below the EU's benchmark for roasted coffee.

That's purity and polyphenol power you can see in black and white, lot after lot.
